- High potentials bring an abundance of energy and endless promise to their jobs, but they also bring a unique set of expectations. To manage them successfully and keep them engaged, you'll want to understand those expectations and take the appropriate actions to meet them. I'm going to share with you four common types of expectations that can be found among high potentials. First, high potentials expect an advanced level of professional development. They want opportunities to expand their knowledge and increase their skills. They're naturally motivated to learn and they expect to have access to a wide range of enrichment tools, whether it's an all-access pass to a robust learning platform or action learning opportunities. High potentials also want leaders to assess their individual strengths and opportunities for improvement, providing them options for development that zeroes right in on the areas where improvements will have the biggest impact.
