I hear a lot of young professionals state that they want to grow into the ranks of leadership. Most of them do mean it, but unfortunately they have no idea what they're talking about. Being a leader is a classic example of something you just don't understand until you have the chance to do it. Sometimes people say they want to be promoted into leadership and they mean it, but what they really want are the perceived perks that come with being a leader.
