Preemptive planning
- I call it the shower stall speech. You're standing there, the water is pouring over you, and you're coming up with the perfect points for the conversation you had yesterday. Hindsight is 20/20. We've all known what to say after the fact. What we need to do is prepare in advance. One of the reason a lot of ideas fail is because people don't address potential problems in advance. When you're really excited about something, it's easy to ignore the potential pitfall. Those flickering doubts in the back of your mind, they just fade away in the face of enthusiasm. That's where planning comes in. When you stop and take a moment to plan for obstacles and objections in advance, you're better prepared to handle them when they arise.
