- Now you hear all sorts of objections to delegating, barriers, excuses for why people don't delegate. I suppose the real reason, probably, deep down is just fear that it will go wrong. But as we've already seen, that's an unfounded objection because if you're monitoring and ready to step in and support it can't go wrong. But fear that it might go wrong is a common fear. Maybe fear that the people who work for you are going to become better than you. But of course that's ridiculous. We want them to be better than us. So don't have that as a fear. They might be better than me, they might do it better than me. I might look bad. If you've got people doing a brilliant job for you you will look good as well as their leader. What about the excuse, I'm too busy to explain it. Now actually that might be true if you're in desperate hurry. But if you can somehow find the time to explain it to the person that's going to pay off many times over in the future when they do it for you next time and…
