Succeeding in this role is a matter of setting clear direction, building a good team, communicating effectively, getting in front of conflict and resolving it quickly, and managing execution. If you're tasked with leading a cross-functional team, or if you're already leading one, here are some good next steps. Define the team's objectives and goals. Secure the right resources for the project given those goals. Negotiate with your team members' bosses to make sure you get a proper amount of time and energy from the members of your team.
