- There's no shortage of leadership books and MBA programs, but nothing is as effective as teaching leadership as seeing it in action, witnessing the powerful impact it can have, watching people influence and inspire their teams in a way that generates results. You have an amazing opportunity to provide that kind of demonstration. As you manage your experience leaders, make sure that you are modeling best practices in leadership. You're setting the standard that your direct reports will follow, and you're also creating a pattern that they will use when managing and coaching their own teams. It starts and the top, and never forget that it trickles down. Modeling leadership is a big responsibility. Everyone below you on your chart is watching, so you want to provide an impeccable example.
