Skill Level Appropriate for all
- There are so many times when we don't ask questions, and business innovators, they're good a doing it. They won't sit back. They're willing to challenge the status quo. And what we find, is that innovation is more likely to occur when individuals take the initiative to ask the questions, and when leaders take the opportunity to create a safe space for others to ask the questions. (upbeat electronic music) - My name is Jeff Dyer and I'm a professor of strategy at BYU, and also at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
What I've learned is that you can get better at coming up with new ideas. This is documented in my book, The Innovator's DNA, where we studied business innovators and how they come up with new ideas. But, that wasn't quite enough. We learned that people can come up with great ideas, but they don't know how to turn those into innovations. Because, creativity is different than an innovation. An innovation is taking that creative idea and turning it into a commercialized product or service that actually works in the marketplace.
So in this course, I'm going to teach you both how to come up with creative ideas, which is in The Innovator's DNA, and then also how do I turn those creative ideas into actual innovations that succeed in the marketplace, which is really the focus of The Innovator's Method. So, I'm looking forward to this journey with you.
