- Many change agents find that their early efforts to push a new idea or initiative forward can be done entirely as a volunteer project, with friends or borrowed resources and a lot of hard work. But once your initial efforts start to show some success, it's time to get serious about finding a way to expand the number of people engaged with what you're doing, those who can roll up their sleeves and help or use their network to move you forward. If you're lucky, you have an existing team of folks who you can engage with or a budget to hire people, but often you don't have that luxury. Or they're busy doing other things, then you have to get more creative about identifying champions and allies who can join your efforts. The good news is is that if you have crafted a compelling story of the future that you're bringing about, a what-if future, there are others out there who'll be eager to help.
