- [Instructor] In today's rapidly-changing work environment, companies that spur innovation and creativity are the big winners in any industry. There isn't a magic formula at play here. Creativity and innovation are just another aspect of great performance, so let's talk about how you can reward employees who are willing to step beyond the existing paradigm. My first suggestion is to have a method that generates ideas and suggestions. While voluntary suggestion systems sound like a good idea, they're seldom effective. That's because employees often fear making suggestions, as they may be dismissed, ridiculed, ignored, or even pirated. To drive past this fear, we must create a process where people are required to bring forth ideas of how they or the company can do things better. One way to do that is to have a monthly best practice meeting where you discuss how you can do things faster, better, cheaper, or differently. Give them a checklist to consider for vetting an idea.
