- So it's not unusual for a business school professor to invite local executives to speak to their classes. You know they usually show up, share some off the cuff remarks about running a business, and then leave. You know, pretty tame and uncontroversial stuff. But sometimes something unexpected happens and that's when you know you're going to learn something interesting. So, case in point, back in the early 2000s the CEO of a fortune 500 company was the guest speaker at a Midwest university. Now, near the end of the class, one young woman raised her hand to ask a question. You know, she said, what do you think about the EEOC? Now that's the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, it's the group that enforces workplace discrimination laws. Well the guys yells out, I hate it. Now you can imagine everyone's eyes getting really big at that point, but he's not done yet.
