- Figuring out how to increase performance and reward great work is a fun and meaningful part of being a manager. We get to be social scientists in the real world. How well we do this affects not only the self-esteem and lives of the people we manage, it impacts the families and the loved ones they go home to, as well. With that in mind, I'd like to share some final ideas about rewards. Number one, connect employees to the product. Some companies will stamp an employee's name on a product. Others will enclose an inspected by sticker. For example, when I went into my hotel room, it said who the room was cleaned by. And of course, everybody in the entertainment industry wants to make sure that they have their name on those show credits. Number two, give employees candy bar rewards, such as a PayDay, a million dollar bar, Life Savers, or Kudos bars. I think you get the idea. You can have some fun with this.
