Developing high-potentials

- Let me connect with you as individual leaders. You are in charge and you are the master of your own destiny. You can seek help, ask help, but you are in charge. You cannot ask somebody else to be in charge. To do that, I want you to note four points. Point number one, if you're going to go through traditional industrial organization, when there was no digitization, and the division of work was created into silos, more specialization. If you go through those rungs in the ladder, your cognitive areas begin to get compressed. You do the same things over time, more, more narrow and narrow. Time comes when you can't see the big picture. Avoid that. Point number two, whatever you do, master these skills. Demonstrate you can perform and build credibility. When you're doing this, you must be looking at the outside and say are you expanding your potential? So look for leaps, more scope, more complexity, more uncertainty. And if you don't get a chance in the same place, find some other place because you are in charge of your personal growth. But going linearly in this exponentially changing environment, if you don't make a leap, you will be left behind. It's not that you can't grow. It is your determination to think about if your job is this big, next one is going to be this big, more uncertain, more complex, more ambiguous. You will test your limits. Remember one thing. The brain expands in nanoseconds. We don't even know when it expands. Experience is drawing you out. If you fail, don't say you failed. You're experimenting. You are testing. Hear a failure if it has to be. It is a basis for innovation in your own capacity. Point number three is focus on skills. Focus on your resilience in your personality. Focus your ability to build networks. Every single job you take, ask a question. What skills I'm growing in? What tolerance I'm growing in? What leadership skills I'm growing in? What's my next leap? Work at that. And number four, swallow your ego. Don't wear on your sleeves your high potential. Let people see you because if you are, you will be the magnet.
