Dealing with aggressive people
- One of the most common difficult behaviors is aggression. And it can be in the form of body language or words, as well as physically aggression. So the first question is do I want to find a way to live with this person's aggressive behavior? Or do I want to get them to change? This will probably depend on how much power you have. If the aggressive person is your boss or a customer, then you might decide it's easier to live with it. But if they're a supplier or they work for you, then you might decide to try to change them. And if that doesn't work, then you still have the option of finding a way to live with it. So I want to suggest three techniques for each of these approaches. If you're going to live with it, then the first step is detachment. Decide that their behavior is their problem, not yours. It's not because there's anything wrong with you and you should resolve that you won't be made to feel not OK by them. They can do or say what they like, but you're still a good person.…
