- We know our experienced leaders are self-sufficient. They know what to do. We trust them. But in the daily chaos, they may begin to fall off our radar. The most important thing to remember is that communicating with your experienced manager is essential for the organization's long-term success. It's easy to neglect them, but making a priority to interact with them is critical. I've got three guidelines you can use to maintain solid communication with your experienced leaders. First, establish expectations about how they should communicate their progress. Typically, experienced leaders are more independent and self-reliant, so they'll need less monitoring, but it's still important to be specific about what type of progress updates you want from them, quantitative results, qualitative measures, personnel issues.
