Busting myths about the generations in the workplace

- They're not really interested in working. They know nothing about technology. They're workaholics. Enough already. These statements are nothing more than generalizations which prevent us from uniting in the workplace. So I'm going to bust some of these common myths that are out there so that we can move forward in a collaborative way. Let's start with the myth that says, when you get to a certain age, you aren't interested in learning. Try telling that to my friend's dad who went back to school at the age of 40 to complete his GED or the millions of older workers who leave their jobs because they no longer feel like they're learning. Provide your mature workers with new opportunities to learn and watch how they prosper. Here's another myth. Millennials are lazy. I've interviewed hundreds of millennials across the US for the work that I do. The line that keeps coming up consistently is don't mistake our ability to get work done quickly as laziness.
