- So, what do bullying behaviors look like? I'd like to break them into three categories, communication, humiliation, and manipulation. Check out the exercise files for a laundry list of behaviors in each category, and I'll share some example here. Aggressive communication refers to belittling people, shouting, sending emotionally charged emails, criticism, and more. It can also refer to body language. For example, one person I coached was known for standing up in staff meetings to intimidate people who disagreed with him. The people I interviewed said his body became stiff, his arms were pulled back, and his eyes were popping out of his head. Mesh that with the yelling he was doing, and anyone who disagreed with him was quickly shut down and left feeling afraid. Humiliation refers to pointing out mistakes in public, spreading gossip, taunting over social media, and more. Another person I coached was known for telling people, "You're wrong, and here's why."
