Skill Level Beginner
- Hello and welcome to being positive at work. I'm so glad you've decided to take this course. My name is Brenda Bailey-Hughes and I teach leadership and communication to university students and I coach executives to be the best leaders they can be. My studies kept pointing toward a correlation between positivity and effective leadership. So, I began a deep dive into understanding positivity. This is the sixth class I've authored in a library and it has been the most transformative course for me personally and for all of my willing subjects as all of those people, family, friends, students, and colleagues who volunteered to test out strategies that I'll be sharing with you.
I've changed their names, but their stories are real. In this course, you will learn what positivity is and how it benefits us. Most importantly, you'll learn 21 strategies to be more positive. Now don't panic. You don't need to use all of these to increase your positivity quotient. You'll choose those that give you the biggest boost. You'll also learn how to respond to negative people around you and how to be authentically positive when navigating tough times in life.
You'll leave this course with a clear pathway to being more positive in the workplace. To do this, we've created a LinkedIn group where you can participate in a course-related discussion. This group will be a great way for us to celebrate our positivity wins and gain additional insights from other members taking the course. To participate in the conversations, you'll need to be a LinkedIn member. If you're not already, it's free and easy to sign up.
It's my hope that we, this community of viewers, will support one another in our quest to become more positive.
