- Now for this final video about assertiveness, I just want to bring up the subject of negotiating because it's not always a case of either they do it or they don't. It's not always a yes or not situation. Sometimes there's some sort of middle ground you can find, or even a win-win situation where you can both be happy. So instead of just weakly saying, yes alright, to something that you don't want, or just saying no, I'm not doing it, why not consider negotiating? I mentioned earlier visiting relatives, and instead of just oh alright, we'll go and visit them for ages, or no I don't want to go, Why not say, well if we could just go for half a day then that would be great. Or if we could go by my favorite shop, or something then that would be great. So negotiating is definitely an option for getting you what you want in situations. And I just got three tips for this really. And the first one is trade rather than conceding. So rather than just, oh alright, why not get something back? So…
