Adjusting your plan
- Step 11, monitoring your project and readjusting the plan where appropriate. Most people have a monthly meeting, possibly a weekly meeting, where they have a look at the Gantt chart and they see how their project's getting on. If your project is running late, you've got five options. The first one is to speed up the remaining tasks by throwing more money and resources at them. The second option is to speed up the remaining tasks by reducing the quality. Not ideal, but it could be done. The third option is to speed up the remaining tasks by overlapping them. Sometimes it's possible. The fourth option is to not speed up the remaining tasks, but to slip the delivery date slightly of your project and just take longer. The fifth option is do nothing and hope. I wouldn't recommend that option. People often hope that their luck will change. But what I would say is what's happened so far is likely to repeat itself, so do nothing and hope is not a good option.
