- As a leader, if you're burned out, you're worthless. You won't perform as well. You're setting a bad example for your team. They're going to say, "Well, the boss is working really hard, "so they must expect that I'm gonna work hard too, "and spend just as many hours at the office as they do." That's a really slippery slope, because working too hard and not having balance between your work and time away from work not only degrades your performance, it can cause deleterious health effects. My maxim to remind me to actually take it a little bit easier and take care of myself is STEMI, S-T-E-M-I. Now, STEMI stands for ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction.
