- [Narrator] The location of save data in memory is giving a name and it's called a tag. A tag is a meaningful friendly name for a memory location, where data is stored. So if we have a device, a sensor, for example and I want the sensor data to be saved in a specific memory location, I will give this location a tag by naming that memory location it makes it easier to find the required data to refer to it in the latter logic program or monitor the data if needed. Tag names are usually chosen to be descriptive to the application and in general, there are not merely generic addresses. So if we have a temperature sensor a tag name would be something like this, temp sensor. This is also a great way for documenting the ladder logic program. The tag serves two purposes.
