Indicators

- [Instructor] Indicators are the opposite of controls in LabVIEW. While controls serve as the inputs to a VI, indicators are the outputs to pass information to the user in other VIs. Like controls, indicators are designed to visually simulate the user interfaces on physical instruments with components such as lights, gauges, charts and graphs which display or indicate information to the user. We can add indicators to the front panel in the same way we add controls. They're intermixed on the same controls palette. For example, I'll right click to bring up the Controls palette, go to the subcategory for Numeric components and next to the Numeric Control, is a Numeric Indicator. So I'll left click and place that. Notice that the background of the numeric indicator is gray which indicates it's an output so I cannot manually change its value like I can with a control.
