Join Richard Harrington for an in-depth discussion in this video Using emphasis animations, part of Keynote: Builds Transitions Animations and Effects.
…The use of action animations is an effective…way to animate the content of a slide.…This is useful if you want to stay on a…slide for a while, and you just want to keep interest.…For example, let's take a look at animating a compass.…In this case, I've built the compass inside of Adobe Illustrator.…Now, this is a piece of stock artwork, and if…you're interested in it, I've left the link up there.…And, this particular icon, I split up into three pieces.…So, there's the base of the compass.…There is the needle of the compass.…
And then, a small dot in the center.…I've gone ahead and locked the pieces using the Arrange menu and the…Lock command, so I can't accidentally move the ones I don't care about.…The only one I want to animate is this needle of the compass.…Under Action here, I could add an effect.…So, I'll click and choose Rotate.…Now, if I click Preview here, you'll see that it does, indeed, rotate.…And, clicking that, it's pretty easy to apply.…What I'd like to do is tell it how many times I want it to rotate.…
