Use object animations - Keynote Tutorial

- [Instructor] Object animations in your Keynote presentations can help keep your viewers interested, especially when you have a lot of content to cover. Instead of bombarding our viewers with so much content, we can be strategic with our presentation delivery. We can get creative with object animations to break up a static slide like this one and include object animations for each key point and images that we use in our slides. So let's take a look at how we can apply these animations. This slide contains several key points. Let's start by making these slide in to make the presentation more interactive. I'm going to select all of these and I'm going to go to my animate panel and I'm going to select the build order. I want to add an effect and I just want these to move in. You have a lot of other options to select from but I want to keep it simple. So let's go move in. You can also adjust the duration on how slow or fast you want it to come in. You can preview it right here and you can see that came a lot faster. So this is a great way for you to add a little bit more customization as you have your key points pop in. Next, I'm going to go to the build order and make sure that these appear in the right manner. So as you can see, they are showing up in the order that I want them to. Next, I want to check that these appear on click. So they are triggered by me clicking on the mouse and you have other options too that you can select from. But for these, I want them to show up as I click on my mouse. Let's take this a step further and introduce an image animation like you saw at the start of this video. I'm going to go into my media panel. I'm going to select choose and select the image I want to import. I have an icon here that I want to use so I'm going to select insert. And now we can drag this down here. The reason why I'm going to do this is because I want this to appear from the bottom up. So before we make that happen, I need to make sure this animation works well. We need to hide this keyboard image to disappear before the icon shows up. I'm going to select this image and I'm going to go back to my animate panel. I'm going to close this window. I'm going to select a build-out mode. I want to add an effect and I want it to dissolve. This is just simple, easy, and it just dissolves it out of the way. Next I'm going to go to my build order. Now I want to make sure this image is triggered to appear at the same time as project scope so that way it does it at the same time. Now I can select preview just to see and it dissolves right there. Next I'm going to animate this icon to appear. So I'm going to select the icon. I'm going to go back to my animate panel and I'm going to to select action. I'm going to add an effect and I'm going to select move. What happens now is that you see a little red line appear and a plus symbol. This tells you the state of where it ends up with your move transition. So I'm going to drag this all the way up here, because that's where I want it to end once it moves. You can select preview and voila. Now I want to make sure that we time the animation to move in at the same time as project scope is appearing. So I'm going to go back to my build order, drag this over here, and I want this to appear. We can test to see if you want it to appear after the build so now you can see. Or you can make it all appear in one go. This is a great transition and now you know how to add object animations that can make your Keynote slides look and feel more interactive as you deliver your presentations.
