- In this next lesson, we're going to begin talking about equations that contain fractions. Before we begin looking at the actual equation, let's talk about how we can work with fractions. I know that most of you don't like working with fractions, especially when it comes to adding and subtracting fractions, so let's rename this title as Not Working with Fractions because, again, we're going to get rid of the fractions in the equations so that we don't have to deal with them. So before we begin, let's just do a little experiment. Let's see what happens when we multiply fractions by a certain number. All of the fractions that I have here on the screen all have a denominator of 5. Let's see what happens when we multiply each of these fractions by the denominator five. So I'm going to multiply 1/5 times 5. Notice what happens. My 5's simplify to 1, and I'm left with 1 times 1 which is 1. When I multiple 2/5 times 5, again, the 5 in the numerator and the 5 in the denominator simplify to…
