Join Jen Kramer for an in-depth discussion in this video Moving your web-hosted site to a local environment, part of Installing and Running Joomla! 3: Local and Web-Hosted Sites.
- Now that we know that Joomla works under two environments,…it works in a local environment,…usually running under WAMP or MAMP,…it works on a web host of some kind or another.…You might have occasion to move your website…from your local environment up to your web host.…Or you may wanna move it from your web host down…to your local development environment.…For example, let's say you have a site right now…that's running, and is live on the server.…Maybe it's running an older version of Joomla,…and you'd like to download that site to your local machine,…do some work on it, migrate it, lots of things to do,…in that regard, and then maybe at that point,…once you've done all of that work, you would like to…move that site once again from your local environment…back up to your web host.…
So these next two videos are gonna talk about moving…your Joomla website in both of these directions.…First we're gonna cover moving it from your web host here,…down to your local environment.…So, here we are, logged in to the control panel…

Q: This course was updated on 05/30/2018. What changed?
A: Joomla no longer supports PHP 5.6 and lower and will issue an error message if it detects an outdated version on your host server. We added three videos that show how to resolve the error message, by updating PHP in your MAMP or WAMP stack.
