A first real programming language: Logo

When a kid is ready to move from graphical programming to something that looks more like a conventional programming language, there are many choices available. If there's a specific project they might want to jump directly to a language that's suited for that project. To build a cool webpage for example, they might want to learn JavaScript but for many kids and for that matter for many adults. Languages like JavaScript can be too complex and even intimidating for a first language. It's usually better to start with a language that has simple syntax and where success can be judged just by looking at the screen. So, for a kid's very first programming language you might want to consider Logo. I'll talk a little bit about the history and purpose of Logo in a moment, but let's get to a quick demo.
