Explore Java SE, the language used to build mobile apps, desktop and web applications, and more.
- [Voiceover] My name is David Gassner. And this is Java Essential Training. If you want to build apps for android devices, or desktop applications that run on the Java runtime environment, you'll need to know Java. I'll start by showing you how to install the Java development kit, and how to get started with IntelliJ Idea community edition. I'll introduce you to the basics of the programming language, including its data types, keywords and best practices. I'll show you how to control program flow using conditional logic and loops and how to store data collections in memory with the Java collections framework and since Java is an object oriented language, I'll describe how it implements concepts like encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism.
The goal of this course is to help you get started with Java so you can go on to build mobile, desktop, web or other types of Java applications.
