The Android SDK's implementation of Java includes Java's Collections Framework, which incorporates a variety of interfaces and classes that let you manage data collections in memory. It includes support for ordered and unordered collections, with wide variety of capabilities. Android adds to these a number of custom collection classes. Compared to Java's own components, these can reduce memory usage (along with other benefits) but they make your code less portable.
