- [Instructor] Throughout this course, we are going to use two products from a company called Atlassian. We will go to www.atlassian.com, and let's take a look at those two products. We are going to take a look at Jira Software, which is a product for project and issue tracking and includes several plugins for Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile approaches. We will also take a look at Confluence, which is a tool for document collaboration.
It is my goal to show a real-life Scrum execution with the help of these two tools. Let's take a look at the pricing options available for Jira. You can try this product for free for up to seven days, but you also get a $10 monthly flat fee option for up to 10 users, which is the option I'm using. This is the cloud version of the product that lets you get started very quickly, and you can be up and running in just a few minutes.
They also have a version that you can deploy on your own servers. Now that I am already signed up for Jira, let me go ahead and try to log in. This is a unique URL you get when you sign up, and my URL is agilefitnessclub.atlassian.net. When I click on the Projects link, you can see that I have no projects created.
I'm just going to go ahead and create a project, and I'll call my project Agile Fitness Club, and I'm going to use the classic Scrum template. You can change this template and choose other types of templates such as Kanban (classic). They also recently came up with more modern and simplified Kanban and Scrum templates, but these templates do not have all the features that I wanted to show at the time of recording this video.
So I'll go ahead and use the Scrum (classic). The other good thing is that you can preview a template and see you are scumming when you create a project using this template, things such as how would your backlog look like, what's an active sprint look like, what velocity chart, burn down chart, and a bunch of other things. So I'll go ahead and use Scrum (classic) template. In the Advanced tab, I have a setting that says I can share settings with an existing project.
I'm going to ignore that because I have no other projects here. I'll go ahead and create my first project. As soon as I log on to the project, it brings up the backlog view. And currently, I have no backlog items created. But if you navigate the left-hand panel, you can see that I have the Backlog view, I have Active sprints view, we have none running right now, that's why you see nothing here. And then you have a bunch of other things that we will revisit later in this course.
