Using a derived route

- [Instructor] Many people who have to work with tubing having been doing so for some time using sweep tools. This is an option in Inventor, but it lacks the ability to control and dynamically update that the routed system's tools give you. In this assembly, I have a part in the model with a 3-D sketch already developed for a route path. What I would like to do is create a new run that would take advantage of it. I'll activate my tube and pipe runs, create a new pipe run, and tell it that I want a new route, accepting the standard file name. Now, instead of using the route tool, I'll use the derived route tool. With the derived route tool, I can select a 2-D or 3-D sketch and have it develop my path for me. I'll right-click and say I'm done. And you'll see that it's added bends to the sharp corners, but accepted the radius of the arc that was already in the sketch.
