Simulation of a thin body part

- If you find yourself working with components that have relatively thin walls compared to the overall length or overall size of the component, an option that you might want to explore is using thin-body analysis. To see if Inventor Professional thinks that the part that you have would qualify as a thin body, you can use the Find Thin Bodies tool. It will indicate whether or not one was found, and ask if you would like to generate midsurfaces. These midsurfaces can be used for analysis rather than applying loads to the actual faces. This improves the accuracy and the performance for this type of part. The overall process remains the same however, so I can tell it that I want to fix these faces where washers would reside, bolting this part to the larger assembly, and then I can apply forces just as I would if these were cylindrical faces rather than thin edges in a body. Let's apply a load of 30 pounds of force, pulling upward on those, and we're able to execute the simulation. When we…
