- [Instructor] Throughout this course, you've heard me talk about adding intelligence to sketch geometry. We've done that in a couple of ways so far. We've either created geometric constraints or dimensional constraints. Now we're going to look at how parameters fit into the mix. On the screen, I have a blank part and we need a new sketch to begin. We can right click in the graphics window and select new sketch. And then we can select the X, Y plane from the orange geometry and pan down into the left, give ourselves some room to work. We're now ready to create a basic rectangle and while you might not have noticed, you've been using parameters all along. Because in the background, every single time you created dimension, Inventor is creating a parameter to hold the value of that dimension. Let me show you what I mean.
