Evaluate your design
- You're building a house. You pick a plot of land, you gather materials. You spend your time, effort, and money building it. And once it's done you then test to see if it can withstand strong winds and heavy rain. Sounds ridiculous, right? Well, that's how most learning experiences are built. Instructional design processes typically rely on post-implementation evaluation, the measurement of instructional effectiveness, and oftentimes these types of approaches completely miss the mark. The limitations of waiting until the final product to measure effectiveness are two-fold. First, the type of evaluation that often occurs simply measures achievement on multiple choice assessments. While these assessments may provide some measure of achievement participation, the team gains little information about the learner's input on the effectiveness of the course.
