Working with buildings

- [Instructor] All right, everybody. We have played around with terrain. We changed materials on the terrain. We've changed some vegetation. We've dug ourselves pond. We've changed the pond material. So before we go any further, what we'll do is we'll just have a look at very, very briefly at what you could do with perhaps a building. Now, I mentioned that this building that we have within our development is a Revit model. However, it's not a native Revit model. That model was brought into InfraWorks, and then exported back out as part of an FBX. Now, one of the things that you have to remember is when that happens, you might lose a little bit of definition and material quality when you go into InfraWorks, and then you might lose a little bit more when you come out of InfraWorks, and come into Twinmotion. So for our purposes, for infrastructure and engineers and people who are working with developments rather than a specific building, I don't think it's that big a deal. However, if you are worried about you've changed the flooring in your model and it hasn't shown up or anything like that, then do remember that Twinmotion has direct link plugins. So if you're working in Revit, if you're working in SketchUp Pro or ArchiCAD or Rhino or anything like that, then go and download the plugin and you can have one-click synchronization of geometry and BIM information. So that's one thing to remember when you are working with models that come from Revit. I mean, it might be pertinent to us because we may have bridges or other infrastructure, things within Revit which may be changed. But for this particular scenario, it isn't. I just want you to know that if you needed to, you'd be able to do it. So back in Twinmotion, I am working with Development Model 2. It's within your Beyond InfraWorks 2021 folder. And this is just so that you can start off exactly where I am starting off right now. If you don't want to, no problem. Just be aware that your results may not be exactly the same as mine anyway. So without further ado, let's have a look at a few little tips and tricks and tweaks we have available at our fingertips in order to make FBX models, imported from InfraWorks, look a little bit more exciting and more photorealistic without doing a whole lot of work.
