- [Instructor] During this course we're going to be using two main pieces of software. The first is Autodesk InfraWorks version 2021.2. So, important. If you try and use an earlier version, the models that you get will not work. The other thing that we're going to use is Autodesk Inventor Professional version 2021. Now the versions here are important because if you try to create a part in Inventor Professional 2020, and then use it in InfraWorks 2021. You will run in to a lot of trouble. Now, the reason I'm using trials here, I always do when I do courses. And that's because, first of all, you get a certain amount of cloud credits when you have an InfraWorks trial. And this is important because if you're doing something like trying to optimize a road corridor or something in a test environment, it's really easy to burn through cloud credits for your organization. And those things are expensive. The second thing is that Inventor is not part of the AEC family of software. So, unless you have access to it through your school, or through your work, it will be an additional cost. So, using the trial is a way for you to figure out whether or not this workflow is going to work for you and have a couple of days of practice. Without any financial commitment. So, if you are starting from scratch, what you want to do is you want to first install Autodesk Inventor Professional. Then you want to install Autodesk Infraworks Trial. Then go to your Autodesk desktop app under My Updates. You should see a number of updates for your software. The one that we are most interested in is the Inventor Infrastructure Modeler Plugin 2021.1. This is really important. So, just hit Update. And it will install that for you.
