Setting up Inventor for infrastructure
- [Instructor] Within Autodesk Inventor Professional click a new part. Now, what you have to remember is that, Inventor was basically set up to design small mechanical things. So the default coordinate system and units aren't really what we want to use in the infrastructure world. And by coordinate system what I mean is the X, Y, and Z axis. So you can see it down here in the bottom left-hand corner. Now you can see that Y is up, X is along this axis over here and Z is coming out at us. Now, that's not what we want. We want Z to be pointing up basically. So in order to do that, head over to our little cube over here and you'll see that we're looking at front. We're looking at the Z axis, head on. What you can do, is just to the bottom right-hand corner you'll see a little drop down menu here. And we want to go and set the current view as the top.
