Residential subdivision lots, part 1
- To create a preliminary conceptual site model within Infraworks, it's best to work in conjunction with AutoCAD or Civil 3D to create your linear objects such as your easements, your lot lines, your right of way. If you try to do that in Infraworks, it's more difficult, because it lacks the geometry features to create offsets correctly, create drawn objects based on bearings, so it's best to create your preliminary site plan in AutoCAD or Civil 3D or even Map 3D. That way you can bring that data straight into Infraworks to create a rich, conceptual 3D model of your site plan. So what I've actually done is I've actually created a site plan already in Civil 3D and exported the line work that represents right of way in pavement and lot lines and parcels and coverage areas to create this residential subdivision that we're about to build right now in this exercise.
