Learn how BambooHR is a powerful human resources platform that allows employees to access and edit personal information, request time off, view the company directory and org chart, and more.
- [Instructor] Before we get started with this course, there are a couple things I want to mention. First, the purpose of this course is to show the end user, the employee, how to use the BambooHR platform. BambooHR is a powerful, human resources software that allows your organization to store employee information, manage and monitor time off, provide onboarding and other training, share files and documents, and much more. This course does not cover, however, the ins and outs of using BambooHR from the human resources perspective. It's intended for the end user, the employee within the organization.
The second thing I want to mention is that the BambooHR platform is highly customizable. You'll notice here, this green color, and then, in the upper left hand corner, I have the KinetEco logo. BambooHR allows you to add your logo and customize the color scheme to match your organizations brand which means that your homepage will likely look different than mine. Also, your HR department will determine which features and functions that you have access to. If there's anything I go over in this course which you are not able to see or access, talk to your HR department to see if you are supposed to have access to those features.
With these things in mind, let's take a look at the BambooHR platform. I'm currently logged in as Marcus Wellsville, an employee at KinetEco. And, up at the top, you'll notice several different tabs including home, my info, employees, and files. We'll go over each of these tabs in this course but, first, I want to familiarize you with the layout. Let's take a look at the homepage, which I'm currently on. And, from the homepage, you'll notice several different sections or widgets. Remember that employee access to these widgets is determined by your employer.
So, if you're unable to see one of these sections, it's likely because you don't have access to that particular section. Some of the widgets that you may have access to include the my information widget, which is right here. To the right of this, we have the what's happening at your organization widget, and here you can see different announcements that pertain to me. Down below, we have the welcome to your company widget which in this case is welcome to KinetEco letting us know of some new employees that are here, just gives information about the company.
You have the who's out widget, which is over here on the left hand side, letting you know who's out for vacation or who is out sick. Also, you have the celebrations widget down below this showing any birthdays or, perhaps, work anniversaries. And then, you have the company links widget, down here, that will show the company website and any other links that are being shared with you. There may also be a few other widgets, including a goals widget, a my training widget, and a benefit widget. You'll see up here, I have one for my benefits, down here I have one for training.
However, these widgets will only appear if you've been assigned training, benefits, or goals. Now, up at the top of the homepage, you can access some of the other tabs. We have the my info tab. If I click here, it brings up my information. We have the employees tab, which brings up the employee directory. And, we also have a files tab that you'll see if files have been shared with you. In the next chapter, we'll take a look at the my info tab and how you can view, access, and edit your information.
