Creating a child content type

- [Instructor] Remember our analogy of media with CDs and DVDs? We have the base or parent content types and then child content types. Let's look at how that applies to our documentation. At the very basic level of SharePoint, everything is based upon the primary content type called an item. The item content type includes the name, when it was created, who it was created by, when it was modified and who it was modified by. Once you start adding additional content types like document, it will start adding additional properties. In this case, the only thing that it adds on top of the item is the title. We've now created the sales document content type which now includes additional columns of sales manager, check-in, check-out, and the number of rooms. This will be the base for every single sales document we create. And from here, we can create other child content types. We have our sales lead form which now has the company, the email, and the telephone number. When we create the sales…
