- [Instructor] Most people are familiar with just setting up a spreadsheet. Not every user has adopted naming cells but naming cells gives us the ability to import our linked database on the name. Named ranges are cell references that have a name in Excel. I would encourage you to check out the Excel 2016 Introduction to Formula and Functions course where they talk about named ranges. Let's go take a look at how to import named ranges into our database. I'll go to the External Data tab, I'll go to New Data Source, I'll choose From File, I'll go to my Excel file, I'll browse to my exercise files, I'll choose my original file, and then importing, I'm just bringing a copy in. At the top, you notice it says Show Worksheets or Show Named Ranges, I'll choose Show Named Ranges. And then I see zip codes. This file has a range called Zip Codes already included.
