- [Instructor] This week's type tip is about working with transparent type and some of the issues that arise from that. So first of all, I should say that I'm doing this in Illustrator. I'm also going to show you an example in Photoshop. InDesign, Illustrator, they both have these same blending modes. Photoshop has them too, and a few more besides, and there are pros and cons to working in Illustrator as opposed to Photoshop and vice versa. Generally for stuff like this, while InDesign is still very capable, I prefer either Illustrator or Photoshop. This is my starting state, so I have two letters, one on top of each other, and generally speaking, while not essential, I think your result will be better if the transparency supports the message of the type, so if the words or letters that you're using have a relationship that is reinforced by the overlapping shapes.
