Working with bleeds and crossovers

- [Instructor] In this chapter I would like to look at some simple and effective ways of breaking out of the grid, and the first way is to allow the images to bleed to the edges of the page. I'll turn on my guides by pressing W. Here I'm working with a five-column grid. I'm going to bleed this image at the bottom, and do the equivalent with the image at the top. To select the image at the top, I'm holding down the command or control key when I click, because it's actually behind the text frame. Notice that when I rescale this the caption now moves down beneath the image. And especially when you have images that end in sky at the top of the frame, allowing them to bleed can give them a much more expansive feel. In a similar vein, when we have a left-hand page and a right-hand page next to each other we can really tie together those two pages as a spread by allowing the image to crossover.
