Working with alternating fills

- One of the most helpful table formatting features and perhaps one that's used the most frequently in InDesign tables is the ability to set alternating fill patterns on your tables. Alternating fills enhance the appearance of a table and make the information it contains more easily readable. Let's take a look at how alternating fills work. Here I have a table where I've just applied some formatting to this first row. It's not a header row or anything, it's just a regular row in the table, but I've applied a color and changed the fonts and so forth. I'm going to scroll over a little bit so we have room for our dialog. And I'll click in the table, and then from the Table menu, under Table Options, we have Alternating Fills. In the dialog box, it just says Fills. I think that can be a little confusing for people that are new to tables because this doesn't mean just any kind of fill or that you can fill an individual cell.
