Where do tables come from?

- You can't start enjoying InDesign's table features until you have a table. Where do tables come from? Well, there are three basic sources. First, you can create a table from scratch. And there are two different ways to do this. One is the case where you have an existing text frame into which you want to insert a table. I've just drawn a text frame and we have our blinking cursor here. If I go to the Table menu, I can Insert Table. When I do that, I get a dialog box that lets me indicate how many rows and columns I want whether or not I want header or footer rows and also, I can apply a table style here. I'm going to leave this at the defaults and just click OK. When I do that, we'll zoom up a little bit here I get a table that is the width of my margin guides here and I get these rows that are a default height. Let's look at this in preview mode.
