When not to describe an image
- [Instructor] Alt text and long descriptions can get involved, but there are a few other pieces of the image description puzzle to relay. Image descriptions that are purely decorative should be marked as such. Flourishes, dingbats, dinkuses, funny word, I know. When an image is used to mark a section break or after a chapter title as decoration, do not describe it all. In this case empty alt text, alt equals quote mark, quote mark, is correct. So let's go back to the NDesign file, the Peter Pan file that we've been working with, and have a look. I've added this flourish underneath the chapter title. It's got a unique paragraph style. It's set in the text with this paragraph style, the flourish, and it's a flourish.png file in the links folder. I'm gonna export that to EPUB. I'm going to look at the markup and then add a little bit to it, so let's go look at what that looks like.
