Join David Blatner for an in-depth discussion in this video What you should know before watching this course, part of InDesign: Print PDFs.
Before we jump in to exploring how PDFs work in InDesign, I'm assuming that you know InDesign at least reasonably well. I'm not going to discuss creating or editing InDesign documents in this course because I'm really focusing on exporting documents that you or someone else has already made. However, if you're new to InDesign, I strongly recommend that you take a look at my title called InDesign Essential Training here in the online training library. You might even want to review my title, InDesign Insider Training: Beyond the Essentials.
These will give you the foundations to really excel in this course.
- Comparing the Export vs. Distiller workflows
- Using Adobe PDF presets
- Adjusting image compression
- Creating a hybrid print/screen PDF
- Keeping your PDF file size small
- Batching exporting PDFs

Q: Why can't I open the exercise files?
A: If you cannot open the files, try the IDML file, as David explains in the third movie of the course.
