What HTML can and cannot do

- In this video, we'll take a look at what HTML can and cannot do. While HTML is a wonderfully versatile format, it has its limitations. And translating InDesign content into HTML also has limitations. So, let's first look at some of the implications that HTML has on text. Some of the pros are, generally speaking, the text is selectable. It's also accessible to screen readers for those with disabilities. It's searchable, so it plays well for search engine optimization, or SEO. And it's an open format. So, there's nothing really hidden about it. Now, as far as the cons go, there are limitations to font embedding. It can be done in HTML5, it's certainly better than it used to be in HTML, but it's not quite as robust as it is in a PDF or Swift. Additionally, the licensing of fonts is a little bit touchier with HTML, then it is with PDF or Swift. And the type precision in HTML is not remotely what it is in InDesign.
