Welcome

- [Ina] Hi, I'm Ina Saltz. Welcome to this course all about designing a resume for creatives. I've been helping creatives get jobs for over 20 years. I've looked at thousands of resumes and I see new ones every day. I know what works and what doesn't and I wanna help you create the very best resume. A resume that will make a powerful first impression in front of hiring managers and recruiters. Whether you're a recent grad or a young professional, a mid-career creative, or a seasoned professional with managerial experience, there's plenty in this course for you. We'll cover every aspect of resume creation and design, from curating your career story, how to choose just the right words and phrases to highlight your experience, how to select effective type faces and formats, and how to create clear typographic hierarchy and navigation. I'll discuss what to include and what to leave out and point out common resume errors that you need to avoid. Your resume is the single most important piece of design. It's the most potent weapon in your career search arsenal. It's the first crucial test toward getting hired. When you're a creative, your resume is the first glimpse a hiring manager will have of your design skills, so it has to be impressive and flawless. There are so many ways to design a successful resume. You may choose to take a quiet and elegant approach or you may wanna liven up your design with typographic emphasis, with a portrait, or even some of your work. Whatever visual direction you choose, writing, curating, and designing a resume is actually one of the most difficult design challenges. There's so much information that must be included. It has to be persuasive, smart, and beautifully designed all on a single, letter-sized page. I'll show you lots of great examples and you'll find plenty of tips on how you can incorporate ideas and design elements to improve your own resume. You'll find actionable steps, career strategies, and design ideas to help you highlight your strengths and to put your best foot forward. Are you ready to begin? Then, let's get started!
