Use effects
- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how to use effects in InDesign in preparation for the ACA exam. In our file, we have this image of gummy bears that we can apply some effects to, and the most common effect that you'll use is a drop shadow. To add a drop shadow, select the object, and then choose Object, Effects, Drop Shadow. In the dialogue box, you can set the blend mode and the color of the shadow, which you'll almost always want to leave at multiply and black. Plus, you can set the opacity, which can look way too dark at the default 75%, so let's turn that down to 30%. And press Tab to see the preview update. If you're not seeing the preview, just be sure to check this checkbox. And there are also controls for setting the position of the shadow, with distance, angle, and offset values.
